Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is an approach based on empathy, respect, and authentic dialogue. It was created by psychologist Marshall B. Rosenberg, founder of the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC). NVC helps us better understand ourselves and others, recognize our needs, and communicate in a way that promotes understanding and cooperation instead of conflict. This approach is used in personal life, at work, in schools, and in communities around the world.

Liv Larsson, a certified trainer for the Center for Nonviolent Communication since 2002, provides practical training based on NVC principles.

About Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is an approach based on empathy, respect, and authentic dialogue. It was developed by psychologist Marshall B. Rosenberg, founder of the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC). NVC helps us better understand ourselves and others, recognize our needs, and communicate in a way that promotes understanding, trust, and cooperation instead of conflict. This approach is applied not only in personal life, but also at work, in schools, communities, and professional fields that emphasize human contact and understanding.

For professionals in the fields of mediation, psychotherapy, and other helping professions, NVC provides a practical and profound framework for working with emotions, needs, and conflicts. It allows us to bring more calm, empathy, and clarity to challenging situations. It helps mediators recognize the essence of a dispute beyond positions and arguments, offers psychotherapists a language for working with clients' authentic experiences and needs, and enables coaches to conduct conversations that promote both responsibility and humanity.

Lecturer, mediator, and guide to the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

Listen to the podcast "Mediation with Nonviolent Communication" with Liv Larsson:

Liv Larsson has been working in the field of communication, education, mediation, and personal development for more than three decades. She has been a certified trainer at the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) since 2002 and has been developing the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) since 1992. She is the author of more than 20 books on communication, emotions, and interpersonal relationships, and she also creates so-called maps—original visual tools that help to better understand a person's inner world and their relationship to their surroundings.

In her work, she combines clarity and empathy, theory and practical experience, creating space for genuine listening and understanding. She focuses on supporting people and organizations in situations where tension or conflict arises, and through NVC, she helps find paths to respectful and sustainable solutions.

As a mediator, she works in conflicts between communities and industries, such as between the indigenous Sami people and mining and forestry companies in Scandinavia. Liv is also known for her approach to emotions such as shame, vulnerability, and guilt, which she sees as a path to authentic contact and understanding.

She draws inspiration from the simplicity of life in northern Sweden, where she lives in the middle of the forest. The nature, tranquility, and presence she finds there are reflected in her style of work—kind, direct, and deeply human.
