Testimonials to the worskhop held 8.-9.10.2026

"The course helped me clarify specific next steps in communicating with my partner. It enabled me to see those concrete steps and focus on the intersection of our visions for the relationship.

I would definitely recommend Ian and Tomáš. You take such great care of it at GEMA."

"During the workshop, I was able to identify deep, hidden desires that I have but had not been aware of in my life. This helped me realize what the next steps are that I would like to work on within my partnership."

"The course was incredibly valuable and very interesting for me. I learned so many new things! The two-day workshop gave me more than the seven months of couples therapy that my partner and I have been attending. I also really appreciated the practical exercises in small groups, which allowed me to try things out and hear the perspectives and advice of others in the group.

I'm also quite envious of the couples who were able to attend the workshop together. It must be wonderful for them to work with these tools now. I honestly don't know how to summarize all the information and share it with my partner at home. I'm truly grateful that I had the opportunity to participate."

"Even though I have been working on communication for a very long time, romantic, family, and close relationships are always the greatest challenge. Emotions play a major role here, and they can sometimes be difficult to manage. In close relationships, our needs and old wounds are laid completely bare.

The main insight I'm taking away from this Nonviolent Communication workshop focused on intimate relationships is this: although we cannot control other people, we always have control over our own approach to our partner.

During the workshop, I realized how often my partner's criticism is not really about me at all. I used to keep asking myself, "Why is he criticizing me again?" It was our own kind of vicious cycle. But when I am able to listen deeply, I discover that his reactions are often simply a reflection of his own discomfort or stress caused by a difficult situation. Once I understand what is truly hidden behind that "criticism," we can begin working with it together and finding ways to improve things for both of us.

When a partner is unable to clearly express their needs or explain what is bothering them, deep listening can help disarm the situation and support them in identifying what is really going on beneath the surface.

Another valuable realization for me was learning how to transform abstract dissatisfaction, that feeling when we are missing closeness or understanding, into a clear and concrete request for what we need in a particular moment.

In conflicts, we tend to focus on proving that we are "right." However, without a sense of safety and mutual understanding, no solution truly works. As long as both sides are fighting over who is right, they lose sight of what is genuinely important for the relationship. If we win the argument but our partner feels unheard, hurt, or threatened, then we have both lost. Real solutions do not emerge from logical arguments, but from moments when both people feel safe enough to lay down their weapons and openly express what they are truly experiencing.

What I appreciated most about the entire workshop was the high level of interactivity and the opportunity to work directly with our own real-life stories and experiences."

"The Nonviolent Communication in Romantic Relationships workshop was my first encounter with Nonviolent Communication as such. I attended it together with my girlfriend. The workshop was full of valuable insights for me, especially realizing how often conflicts in relationships arise simply from misunderstandings. Sometimes, all it takes is finding a genuine connection. We were given practical tools for exactly that and had the opportunity to practice them throughout the course. Thank you."
